Who loves pickles??

After resting up yesterday, it was time to bust a move into the city today. A friend mentioned the 10th Annual International Pickle Day in the Lower East Side (thanks, Micki!) and since Nacho has become obsessed of late with all things pickled, I figured it was worth the trek in. And boy was it. There were lots of free samples of all kinds--hot & spicy, whiskey sour, and half sour pickles, as well as a full range of Korean dishes. Nacho is still raving about the kimchi taco. Who knew pickling was this cool? Afterwards, we wandered up to Mott and Prince to Gimme Coffee, one of Nacho's favorite spots and it did not disappoint. The brew today was unbelievably good--possibly the best coffee I've had in the last 5 years. Or ever. I swear it was the perfect strength with notes of chocolate and caramel and it just got better as we drank. With a new cupcake place up the corner, I think this could be my favorite walk of late. Yes, Sundays like this are just about ideal--pickles for him, cupcakes for me, and a coffee we can share. Mmmm.

glad you guys had fun! We've loved it every year, and the Gelato factory is great too. Sorry we didn't see you, Harley ended up with a cough and runny nose, and just all around feeling crappy so we stayed in all weekend. What a lovely day it was...
