The Big Bang

Our July 4th was the usual holiday in the middle of summer affair:  swimming, picnic, followed by napping, then more swimming, then barbecuing and hanging out with friends while the temperature and humidity tried to destroy me. Oh, July, you kill me with your weather.  When it's not horribly hot and humid, it's threatening rain.  But there were no storms, just lots of crazy kid chaos and good food.  So we survived and had a good time to boot...
And this year for the fireworks we tried to improve on our view from the hallway last year. So we climbed up one flight of stairs and out onto the roof (without setting off any alarms!) and took a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful views.  Carolina was already put to bed, so we didn't have to worry about her, and Elisa loved seeing the vibrant sky all aglow with little bursts of color popping up along the horizon.  Truth was, there were many places setting off fireworks that night including our own Sunnyside, parts of Astoria, Brooklyn and along the East River. It was a dazzling sight and I'm glad we live on the edge of the neighborhood for nights like this.  Happy 4th indeed.
