Hippity Hop

December was full of little moments of joy and excitement and none more so than watching Elisa in her Hip Hop class preview night. Once a semester we get to see them in action and it was a perfect excuse to bring the whole family out and watch what our big girl has to offer. Fortunately this year it wasn't the same night as the Winter Concert which just about broke me last year.  No, this time we made her performance the highlight of the evening and celebrated with a post-dance dinner at Wendy's for the girls.  Elisa can get a little shy performing, but clearly, she's finding her groove with the dance stuff. And so I was happy to see her dust off her sneakers and bop around for us to a funky little song that she was already lip syncing to. I would love to say that she seemed to grow and mature as a dancer this year, but with a new passion (hip hop) it's still not clear if she has found her "thing." Tap was really such a delight to watch her in, but the timing didn't work well for us this year, plus she wanted to try hip hop, and she couldn't swing two classes back to back. So who knows. I'm hoping that this spring semester will show her the way and we'll have another great performance come June. Time will tell, I suppose. Looking forward to the big recital and to see her shine no matter how she dances.
