Week in Review: Spring break edition

Spring Break week this year was certainly eventful for a number of reasons. It marked the first time ever that the girls spent a few nights solo at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Jacksonville, NC. They did great and I think mom and dad survived too which was a bonus. They even managed to con them into buying Playdoh toys at the thrift store in Swansboro, a trip to Chuck E Cheese and a donut run at the newly opened Krispy Kreme. There was plenty of backyard shenanigans and a day at the beach.  All in all, a pretty well balanced visit...
But like every school vacation, it has to end sometime. The girls were champs on the way home from Raleigh, and we made it back late Saturday night with a whole day of rest to look forward to. It helped that temperatures were on their way up (FINALLY!) in NYC the next day and so we spent a glorious afternoon in Sunnyside Gardens Park recovering from all of our travel fun.  Slowly but surely the week ahead was one of sunshine and lots of outdoor time. Nacho and I made a nice morning walk to the water in LIC and I visited Elisa's classroom for a publishing party about their nonfiction animal-themed books. As the week back from vacation came to a close, we enjoyed a few late sunsets from the roof. This change in the year with more daylight is always so anticipated after the dark, cold of winter. And really it couldn't happen soon enough. As much as the girls love playing in the many parks throughout the neighborhood, I also love the socializing that it brings out. So here's to more of that and a long, beautiful summer ahead...
