Beach day #1

We finally made it to the Rockaways in July and not on the best of days, but that was alright. There were a few brave souls out during the midweek slump and with forecasts of rain, the food stands were mostly shuttered. But we did it. We threw our tent out there and the girls ran all over the beach digging and hurling sand in the air. And the thick, wet air clung to us and finally gray clouds descended, forcing us to pack it in. The lifeguards were signaling about lightning offshore and that was our demise. Off to the car just as the rain began to fall, and within minutes the drops were getting heavier and faster. Nacho scampered over to Rockaway Tacos where there was no line and so in a matter of minutes, he reappeared with four deliciously fried fish tacos and two cheesy, spicy ears of roasted corn. I can still taste it. SO. DAMN. GOOD. When can we go again?
