Summer Sizzle

I get it. It's summer. It's going to be hot. But fuck. They weren't kidding. When we returned from Spain last week, the thing that struck me most was the staggering humidity. It made the relatively high temperatures so much more unbearable. Just being outside was enough to make you limp from sweat and the glare of the near constant sunshine. Adam's arrival for a week coincided with this heat wave and it wasn't easy to think up places to visit that wouldn't scorch us all. The first night we walked around the city, I decided to take it easy and just hit the High Line near 34th before grabbing dinner at Mandoo Bar. From there we hopped on a the Q32 and zoomed home in air conditioned luxury. Yes, it was going to take some planning on my part to keep us cool and entertained for the next few days...
RealFeel don't lie
A swim with Juliet was just what we needed
Ice cream from Sundaes and Cones before a little walk through the East Village
Rockaways for the win!
The little trips in the city were punctuated with things like ice cream galore and cooling off today at the beach in the Rockaways. If it was going to feel like the worst part of summer, we were going to make the most of the season and do it right. Playing in the surf and eating arepas was just part of the plan. And a good one at that. I think Adam enjoyed seeing the coast line on the other side of the country, and it felt fun to share our favorite city beach spot with a visitor.  I know it will cool off eventually and we'll be covering up in a few weeks time. But right now, the heat is on. And we're hanging in there.
