Valentine's Birthday

When your birthday is February 14th, you might need to get used to hearts and red balloons for your celebration. Or not. Not everybody can pull off being the sweetest Valentine birthday girl.  Fortunately, Carolina's preschool pal Sylvie seems to be taking her birthday in stride at the tender age of four, so we joined her on Sunday to blow out some candles and kick off a week of hearts and candy. Mom Eva was one of the first Sunnymoms I met when we were both still pregnant with our firstborns during the summer of 2008.  And since welcoming our seconds, we have continued to be in touch through preschool comings and goings. I've photographed her family a few times around the city and I really enjoy seeing them interact and have fun together. And this party was just up the road at Sabrina's, a new play space in the neighborhood. It really caters to the preschool crowd and they did a lovely job keeping things moving while giving the kids plenty of options to bounce or climb or just play dress up. The day before Elisa got a ride from Pepa and Joan to hang out with Carmen and Leonardo at Manuela's school play the Lion King at UNIS. So Sunday was a day for Carolina to get out and about while Nacho stayed home with big sis. (Yes, he made it home for one glorious day before taking off again Monday--but more on my single parenting nightmares later). She definitely liked the bowls of gummy bears everywhere, and the red frosted cupcakes made for some pretty hilarious photos of sticky faces later. All the kids played so nice that it was easy to talk and linger and not be on top of them the whole time.  This second generation of Sunnykids knows how to party.  The goodie bags with the lacy hearts were festive and beautiful, and Carolina watched over her balloon the whole walk back home. I'd say this little Valentine had a pretty great time celebrating and hopefully Sylvie did too. Happy #4!
